On the way out of Colorado Springs is a place called the “Red Rock Open Canyon Area” which turned out to be kind of a mishmash of all kinds of recreational activities. There was some serious MTB and BMX infrastructure, but to our delight there were also miles of off-leash dog trails! It was a great way to start off what turned out to be a long day of driving, with the winds in Taos so strong that the tent wouldn’t stay staked to the ground. We briefly touched down our wheels at tea - o - graphy and kept driving.
